Minecraft shop comparison

Phoenix Shop vs ShopGUI+

Pick ShopGUI+ if you want a shop plugin with more than ten years of history, need versions older than 1.20.4, and are happy editing YAML files.

Pick Phoenix Shop if you would rather build shops in-game, want player chest shops and sign shops in the same plugin, or have Bedrock players.

Phoenix Shop is new (released October 2026), so it has far less history behind it.

Switching

Moving from ShopGUI+

Phoenix Shop reads your ShopGUI+ files directly. Open Editor > Migrations and pick ShopGUI+.

It shows how many shops, categories, items and past transactions it found before writing anything, and copies its own folder to a backup first. Your shops come across as one /shop with a category per ShopGUI+ shop.

Your transaction log comes across as purchase history. Per-player price modifiers set with commands do not. The whole import fits in one shop, so you can test the move on the free Lite version first; Premium settings like stock and limits are left out there.

The migration guide lists exactly what comes across from ShopGUI+.

Quick answers

FAQs

Is Phoenix Shop a good ShopGUI+ alternative?

It is if you want to build shops in-game instead of in YAML, need player chest shops or sign shops in the same plugin, or have Bedrock players. If you run a version older than 1.20.4 or want a plugin with years of history, ShopGUI+ is the safer choice.

Can I import my ShopGUI+ shops into Phoenix Shop?

Yes. Open Editor > Migrations and pick ShopGUI+. It reads your shops, main menu and transaction log, shows what it found before writing anything, and backs up its own folder first.

Do ShopGUI+ and Phoenix Shop work on Folia?

ShopGUI+ lists Folia support on its SpigotMC page. Phoenix Shop runs on Folia too, but that support is still marked experimental.

Is there a free version?

Phoenix Shop has a free Lite version with fewer shops and no stock or limits. ShopGUI+ has no free version; it is $20 on SpigotMC.

Which Minecraft versions do they support?

Phoenix Shop supports 1.20.4 – 26.3 on Spigot, Paper and their forks. ShopGUI+ supports Spigot 1.8 and newer, with 26.x builds offered as dev builds on its Discord.

Bottom line

Proven and file-based, or new and in-game

ShopGUI+ is a safe, long-running choice, especially on older versions. Phoenix Shop is the better fit if you want an in-game editor, more ways to trade in one plugin, and Bedrock forms, and you are fine with a plugin that launched in October 2026.
