The Best Minecraft Duels Plugins in 2026 (Free & Premium)

For a survival or SMP server that wants duels set up in-game, with parties and arenas that reset themselves, Phoenix Duels is our pick. For a practice server with bots, replays and tournaments, StrikePractice is the better fit. If it has to be free, use Duels Optimised, the maintained fork of the classic Duels plugin.

We make Phoenix Duels, so we have a stake in this list. To keep it fair, every competitor fact below comes from that plugin's own SpigotMC, Modrinth or GitHub page, checked on 27 October 2026. Where a page doesn't say something (Folia support, for example), we say "not stated" instead of guessing.

1. Phoenix Duels

Premium duels plugin for Spigot and Paper: 1v1, party and FFA duels with arenas that regenerate, kits, queues, betting and 30+ rules, all set up in-game. It has no required dependencies and stores data in SQLite or MySQL.

  • Price: €19.99 one-time, lifetime updates. Free edition: Phoenix Duels Lite (free, limited modes, maps and party size).
  • Versions: Minecraft 1.20.4 – 26.3 on Spigot, Paper, Folia (experimental).
  • Bedrock: Player menus are built to work for Bedrock players through Geyser.
  • Last update: 23 October 2026.
  • Rating: 4.8/5 from 26 reviews on our store.
  • Get it: Phoenix Duels (Premium) or Phoenix Duels Lite (free).

Arenas, kits and modes are all created in-game. Players can duel by direct invite or through queues, in 1v1, party or FFA matches. There are premade modes like Sumo, UHC, Boxing, Spleef and TNT, money and item betting, a spectator mode and 30+ match rules. Premium adds match replays, a Discord match log and a documented events API for hooking into matches from your own plugin.

Best for: survival, SMP and minigame servers that want duels without editing YAML.

The catch: it was released in November 2025, so it has far fewer reviews than StrikePractice or Duels. The free Lite edition is limited: up to 5 kits, 22 of 48 gamemode rules, and no party team fights. Folia support is still experimental.

2. StrikePractice

StrikePractice by Toppe is the established paid plugin for practice servers. It covers 1v1 and 2v2 duels, party vs party, party FFA, Elo ranks, and events such as tournaments, Sumo, LMS and KOTH. Version 4.0.0 rebuilt its PvP bots.

  • Price: €18.99, no free version (free add-ons only).
  • Versions: tested 1.8 to 1.21. The page calls 1.21 support experimental.
  • Folia / Bedrock: not stated.
  • Last update: 4.0.0 on 9 June 2026.
  • Rating: 4.8 from 348 ratings on SpigotMC.
  • Get it: SpigotMC. Developer API on GitHub.

The standouts are PvP bots with four difficulties and fight replays, both through Citizens. Players also get a kit editor with several saved layouts per kit.

Best for: dedicated practice and PvP networks.

The catch: paid only, bots and replays need Citizens, and arena regen through FAWE is still marked beta. It is a lot of plugin if you only want players to settle a fight on a survival server.

3. Duels (Realized) and Duels Optimised

Duels by Realized is the free classic, with 293 ratings (4.6 average) and over 266,000 downloads on SpigotMC. It has betting, Elo, queues, spectating, WorldGuard duel zones and integrations with many older plugins.

The problem is age. The last release was 3.5.3 on 18 March 2023 and the newest tested version is 1.19. Arena regen and leaderboards are paid extensions.

The maintained route is Duels Optimised, a fork by dumbo-the-developer on Modrinth. It was last updated on 17 October 2026, supports versions up to 26.3, states Folia support, and adds replays, a kit editor, party queues and rounds. Its extensions are sold on BuiltByBit.

Best for: servers that want a free, well-known duels plugin. Use the fork on anything newer than 1.19.

The catch: the original is effectively unmaintained. The fork is active, but it is one developer's project and has far fewer reviews than the original.

4. ConquestDuels

ConquestDuels by ConquestCoder is a small, actively updated plugin with no required dependencies. It has party duels, Elo, Vault wagers, WorldGuard flags, an in-game arena editor toolkit and snapshot-based arena regen.

  • Price: free, or Premium for $2.99.
  • Versions: tested 1.20 to 1.21. The latest update is titled "26.2 Support".
  • Folia / Bedrock: not stated.
  • Last update: 5.7.1 on 2 August 2026.
  • Rating: 4.4 from 8 ratings (free).
  • Get it: SpigotMC (free), SpigotMC (Premium).

Best for: small servers on a tight budget that want regen and wagers.

The catch: a small user base, few reviews and no documented developer API. Menus are mostly configured in YAML.

5. Advanced Duels

Advanced Duels is a free plugin first released in June 2026 and updated often since. It has per-kit Elo ladders, parties, queue signs, rematches, an in-game kit editor and arena regen without WorldEdit.

  • Price: free. An optional paid add-on, AdvancedDuels-Plus, is mentioned on the page.
  • Versions: Paper, Spigot or Purpur on 1.21+ (tested through 26.3), Java 21.
  • Folia / Bedrock: not stated.
  • Last update: 7.0 on 22 October 2026.
  • Rating: 4.5 from 2 ratings.
  • Get it: SpigotMC.

Best for: modern Paper servers that want ranked ladders for free.

The catch: it is about four months old with a very small user base, so expect rough edges. Extras like holographic leaderboards sit in the paid add-on.

6. SimpleDuels

SimpleDuels by CaraDeGatoFeliz focuses on safe 1v1 fights. It backs up inventories to SQLite before each duel, handles combat logging, tags duel items so they can't leave the match, and can clone one arena so several matches run at once. It ships with modern kits like Crystal, Anchor, Axe and Mace.

  • Price: free.
  • Versions: built for Paper 1.21+ and Java 21.
  • Folia / Bedrock: not stated.
  • Last update: 1.0.2 on 1 October 2026.
  • Get it: SpigotMC.

Best for: simple 1v1 duels on a modern server.

The catch: released in August 2026 with no reviews yet, and it is 1v1 only.

  • Free ranked ladders on Paper 1.21+: Advanced Duels, if you're fine with a young plugin.
  • The cheapest paid option: ConquestDuels Premium.
  • Plugin developers: Phoenix Duels, StrikePractice and Duels all publish an API. Phoenix documents its match events.

FAQ

What is the best free Minecraft duels plugin in 2026?
Duels Optimised on Modrinth is the strongest free option that is still updated: it is a maintained fork of the classic Duels plugin, supports 26.x and runs on Folia. Phoenix Duels Lite is free too and is set up in-game, but it has fewer gamemode rules and no party team fights.
Is the original Duels plugin by Realized still maintained?
No. Its last release on SpigotMC was 3.5.3 in March 2023 and its newest tested version is 1.19. It still works on many older servers, but for 1.20 and later use a maintained fork or another plugin.
Which duels plugin is best for a practice server?
StrikePractice. It has PvP bots, replays, tournaments, Elo and party events built for practice networks. It is paid and some features need Citizens.
Which duels plugins support Folia?
Duels Optimised states Folia support. Phoenix Duels supports Folia as experimental. The other plugins in this list do not mention Folia on their pages.
Do I need a separate plugin to reset arenas after a match?
Not with Phoenix Duels, ConquestDuels, Advanced Duels or StrikePractice, which regenerate arenas themselves (StrikePractice's regen uses FAWE and is marked beta). The original Duels sells arena regen as a paid extension.
