๐ŸŽ Lootbox

On this page, you will find everything you need to know about the lootbox add-on.

#Lootbox

The Lootbox add-on (formerly known as Pouches) lets a crate be opened directly from a held item, without needing to place a crate block in the world first. Right-clicking with the item opens the crate on the spot.

Enable it per-crate from the crate's Secondary Settings, using the Lootbox toggle.

Enabling Lootbox for a crate automatically turns off that crate's Key Required setting, since a lootbox is opened by consuming the item itself, not a key.

circle-info

If the crate has a world animation phase configured, right-clicking with the item places the crate in the world instead of opening it instantly, the same as a normal placed crate - if you right-click it in the air, you'll instead be told to place it on the ground. Admins with the phoenixcrates.admin permission can also sneak-place a lootbox item to place it normally instead of opening it.

#Opening Behavior

  • If the crate's rewards mode is Random, right-clicking the item immediately opens the crate and consumes one item from your hand.
  • If the crate's rewards mode is Selective (non RNG), the reward menu opens first and the item is only consumed once you confirm a reward. If the lootbox item is no longer in your inventory by then (traded, dropped, etc.), the claim is cancelled and you're notified that you must still have the lootbox to redeem it.
  • If a confirmation menu is configured (CONFIRMATION menu type), it's shown before the crate opens, the same as opening a placed crate.

#Exclusive Animations

The Lootbox add-on comes with its own set of animations:

  • Eruption, Pulse, Arcane - Pre Open animations.
  • Vortex, Tornado - Post Open animations.
  • Treasure Cascade - Reward Display animation.

#MythicItems Support

The add-on can register MythicItems item drops (pcrates:crate and the legacy pcrates:pouch alias) that resolve to a lootbox crate's item when a mob drop triggers.

#Migrating from Pouches

If a pouches/ folder exists in the plugin's data folder (from the older, now-removed Pouches feature), every crate file inside it is automatically converted into a Lootbox-enabled crate the next time the server starts. Key Required and Linked Keys are cleared on the migrated crates, matching how a lootbox crate is normally configured. Once migrated, the folder is renamed to deprecated_pouches so it isn't processed again on the next restart.
